Most
open canoes will perform well with a simple
sailing rig. We can advise on rigs appropriate
to your requirements and supply spars, sails
and boards.
The Carrick is a specialist sailing canoe
designed and developed by Tyrone Boats,
in co-operation with Selway Fisher, to conform
to O.C.S.G. rules (44 sq ft. sail area).
She has an asymmetric hull with fine entry,
wide aft section and low sheerline. Our
current racing prototype has side buoyancy
tanks (and can be self-righted dry), hollow
rotating aerofoil mast, daggerboard and
push/pull rudder.

This
design is by John Winters of Redwing Designs.
She has an assymetric hull with fine entry
and greater volume at the stern for high
performance. She performs remarkably well
with different loads on board, being responsive
and lively with 4 to 6 paddlers and yet
steady with 10 adults on board. In her home
territory on Lake Ontario she has proved
to be a sucessful racing boat.
She could be built slightly shorter or longer
depending on requirments. We can build to
order or customise kits as required. See
the other pages on cedarstrip canoes for
more details on kits.
